Four skeins at nine wraps per inch, shading gradually through the colourway. The wpi figure is the useful one for substituting yarn: it describes the actual thickness rather than relying on a weight name, which different mills apply differently. Four skeins in sequence also let a large piece shade continuously from one end to the other rather than restarting the gradient at every join.
